Flocking Fun!

Paper Craft Planet's Back to Basic's lesson this week (#6) is on Fuzzy Flock! Something I always thought was too mess to play with, but after seeing the tutorial it didn't look so bad. Plus, with a chance to win some prizes I had to play. So, I went to Michael's and picked up some of the Fuzzy Flock. Of course, I couldn't just pick up one container, I had to get two different sets of colors! Both cards today are using the Oh So Majestic set. I also have the Saltwater Taffy colors and hope to try those soon. I'm thinking I can make some fun cards for tween girls with the saltwater taffy colors!

On to the cards I made...The first one is using the Bundle of Joy set. I thought the flocking would be perfect for the giraffe's spots. I also used SCS's Color Challenge today CC240 and an old Sketch Challenge SC242.
The second card uses an old set (2000) Spooktacular Greetings. I thought the black cat would be perfect in black flocking. As I was playing I thought I would also add the flocking to the witch's hair. She needed some drama! I found an old scrap of paper that had some great colors for Halloween and used that as my color palette. The other papers are black, Apricot Appeal and Kiwi Kiss. The ribbon is the striped Kiwi Kiss with a piece of black grogain over it.
I can't wait to try the Saltwater Taffy colors. We'll see what later tonight or tomorrow brings. So glad to be back in the swing of creating! Maybe one of these days I'll actually figure out how to make my blog more attractive!

Birthday Card for 2 year old

Today's card if for my nephew James' 2nd birthday. Wow, how times flies! I decided to give SCS's sketch challenge this week a try as it looked very appealing and easy to use up some DP I had sitting here. I also pulled out my first pieces of the new In Colors! The stamp set used is by Inque Boutique which I had never used before.

We're looking forward to another beautiful day here in South Dakota. I probably should go outside and do something, but my new stamps have been calling my name for the last few days! We'll see how things go. For now we just need to focus on getting homework done and things in order for school tomorrow.

Blessings! Stacy

Finally, I have a trade done!

It's been months since I have been able to participate in trades with my card club. I was determined to work something up this month since I've been borrowin my demo's WWC's for a few months now and haven't "given" her anything in return (although I have posted several cards).

The card I created was a case from a fellow SCS stamper Lisa S. You can view her card http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/959409

OK, so when I start cards for a trade, I always just make one first and then I worry about if I have enough stuff to make 10 cards. I know, I know. My mom did teach me when cooking you always need to make sure you have all the ingredients on hand before you start. Well, I'm a bit impatient and I like to dive into things. So, I came up with this card I thought would be nice and I loved the colors. Then when I saw I had 1 1/2 sheets of True Thyme, I figured, that'll be PLENTY. Well, it's NOT! Of course, I decided, you don't need to make the middle square since no one can see that anyway. Hmmmm, still not enough. Ok, so I can cut 2 squares in half and just make sure the center piece will cover the missing half of the 4 center squares. Yeah, great plan, let's proceed. Getting down to the last few cards. Uh oh, I STILL don't have enough. OK, well I had some scraps of True Thyme, maybe I can dig those back out of the trash and just make those 1/2 squares. That got me a few more, but I am still short. Gosh, what other colors can I substitute, let me look in my folders. By golly, I have 3 more sheets of True Thyme! All that stressing and skimping and I didn't need to after all!

Masculine Birthday

It's been a few days since I've posted. Lots of busy-ness around here. I really liked SCS's Color Challenge yesterday and the Sketch Challenge today. Since time is short, I just combined them into one card. My brother-in-law has a birthday in July and this will be perfect for him.

I finally used my jumbo eyelets though that I got SEVERAL months ago for a really specific reason that I cannot for the life of me remember now! For the thread, I put the jumbo eyelet in and set it just a little bit and then strung the thread and finished setting the eyelets. It worked pretty slick.

I'm loving the WWC Crayons that my demo loaned me. I suppose I should get them back to her. I did order one set of the crayons this month. Wish I could order them all at once!

I'm off to Boston tomorrow, so it'll be a while until I post again. Thanks for stopping by....Stacy

Dot On Chef

The title for this post is a play on one of the sayings from my favorite show - Hell's Kitchen. Chef Ramsey is always saying "Spot On" to the chefs....along with a many other expletives that I won't share here!

This card was created today for my step-mom's 50th birthday which was June 3. We are having a big celebration tonight. She is a catering chef, so I think she will enjoy this saying. Voila is one of my favorite sets to go to for fun birthdays and dinner parties.

I decided to give SCS's Sketch Challenge this week another go and I am glad I did. The dots were a last minute addition. I was really scared when I started them as I don't have time to ruin this card today! But, the end result I really like.
The saying was computer generated. It says "Sick and tired of all those sarcastic cards you've been getting that joke about your 50th birthday...." On the inside it says, "Frankly, that's not surprising. The sense of humor is the first to go." I love finding fun sayings to put on my cards!

Thanks for visiting today! Enjoy the weekend!
